Liebermann (1847-1935) was one of Germany's most
prestigious artists. He was condemned by the Nazis
he came from a wealthy Prussian-Jewish manufacturing
family. In 1947 his one-man exhibition in Berlin
brought him back to public attention. He became
president of the Prussian Academy of Art in 1920.
