JOHN
WILLIAM WATERHOUSE BOOK of POSTCARDS
|
PC-142 JOHN
WILLIAM WATERHOUSE BOOK of
POSTCARDS £8
Trained
at the prestigious Royal Academy Schools and elected
to full membership in the Academy at the age of forty-six,
John William Waterhouse (1849-1917) ranks as one of
the finest of the Victorian painters. His depictions
of wistful long-haired maidens, haunted by loneliness
or desire, captivate viewers with their sumptuous
colours, meticulous details, and extraordinary sense
of unfolding drama. Combining superb draftsmanship
with a deep knowledge and appreciation of antiquity,
Waterhouse succeeded in fusing reality and fantasy,
bringing vividly to life the characters of classical
mythology and European legend. This book of postcards
transports you to a realm of romanticism and beauty
with 30 reproductions of Waterhouse's works. 17.5cm
x 12cm |

"Starbeck
provides an Aladdin's Cave of exciting & unique
resources. The touch, sight, smell & sound of the
artefacts not only inspires my students, but staff also
want to buy these resources because 'that would look
great in my house!' Keep on truckin'!"
